KID and Alberta Parks

Kananaskis Improvement District and Alberta Parks

Kananaskis Improvement District is a municipality unlike any other in Alberta, as it is uniquely the only municipal authority located within a provincial park and almost all of the land base is owned and administered by the Government of Alberta. As such, the Ministry of Municipal Affairs has delegated certain powers, duties and functions to the Ministry of Forestry and Parks, pursuant to the current amendment of Section 2 of Ministerial Order L:102/96.

KID and Alberta Parks work hand-in-hand to support residents, businesses, and visitors to make the most of their time in Kananaskis Country.
