Volunteer Training

A team of in-house professional trainers maintains a crew of 15 Call-Out Firefighters that responds to calls for assistance from our community. Each Tuesday night, firefighters receive training in the following areas:

  • Self Contained Breathing Apparatus
  • Ground Ladders
  • Apparatus Operations
  • Vehicle Extrication
  • Fire Ground Command
  • Radio Operations
  • First Aid CPR and AED
  • Wildland Firefighting/ Urban Interface
  • Fire Extinguisher Training
  • Lake Ice Rescue
  • Hazardous Material Awareness
  • Live Structure Fire Training

Other Training Programs

Kananaskis Emergency Services is proud to offer Defensive Driving, Red Cross First Aid, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS), and fire extinguisher training programs. These programs have proven to be a valued and well-utilized service to the community and can be customized to meet your needs, location and schedule. Our staff can deliver these programs throughout the Kananaskis Improvement District for a minimal cost of materials and supplies.
