SERVICES


The Kananaskis Emergency Services Centre (KESC) provides “front country” fire and rescue services through the Kananaskis Improvement District (KID). Additionally, non-emergency activities include fire prevention and inspections and educational programs, recruitment, in-house training for all employees. KESC also houses the Alberta Parks Dispatch program for the Kananaskis Management Area.

Fire protection services for the KID were established through KID Order No. 1. KESC is committed to providing residents and visitors the best quality service available through a rural fire department.

  • Wildland Fire Suppression
  • Medical Co-Response
  • Fire Safety Inspections
  • Fire Investigation
  • comprehensive Public Education program
  • Training opportunities

Staff

KESC employs a full-time Fire Chief, four full-time Station Captains, a pool of casual Lieutenants, as well as a complement of Paid on-call Firefighters that live and work in the community.  KESC Dispatch is staffed with three full-time Emergency Communications Officers supported by wage Dispatchers to provide additional coverage.

Alberta Health Services (AHS)

AHS provides 24-hour Advanced Life Support (ALS) services out of KESC (Station 96) and from Priddis.  EMS personnel respond to a range of front-country and back-country emergencies throughout the KID; partnering with Alberta Environment and Parks – Kananaskis Public Safety for back-country rescues.

Mutual Aid Agreements

The KID maintains Mutual Aid Agreements with other regional fire departments to provide additional structure fire suppression services throughout the KID.
