SENATE ELECTION AND REFERENDUM 2021
We are sharing this information on behalf of the Government of Alberta.
The Alberta Senate nominee election and referendum vote are on October 18, 2021. Our community will be voting by special (mail-in) ballots.
To vote you must be over 18 years of age, be a Canadian citizen, live in Alberta on the day you vote and provide a copy of your identification for review, which may be either a:
•Band or Federal Status Card; or
•Any identification listed at https://open.alberta.ca/publications/voter-identification-requirements
To request your ballot, contact the Returning Officer toll-free at 310-0000, then 780-422-1209, or by email at ma.returningofficer@gov.ab.ca before 4 p.m. on October 8, 2021.

How to do I vote in the Senate Election and Referendum?
Voting will take place by special ballot only. Special ballot applications shall be received by the Senate Election and Referendum Returning Officer before 4 p.m. on October 8, 2021. Special ballot requests may be made:
- by telephone at toll-free at 310-0000, then 780-422-1209; or
- by email at ma.returningofficer@gov.ab.ca.
