Emergency calls received through the Alberta Parks Dispatch has increased significantly for the month of July, reports Dispatch Supervisor Duncan McQuiston who goes on to say “this equates to the busiest month in 28 years that dispatch has ever had.”
These calls include dispatch of a Conservation Officer’s (593), Dispatch for Public Safety Event (73), Dispatch other agencies such as RCMP (91) and Wildlife sightings (118). 45 of these calls were from Residents/Ratepayers.
Kananaskis Emergency Services Centre dispatch program is the first point of contact for Kananaskis Public Safety mountain rescue program, Alberta Parks Conservation Officers and the wildlife reporting line.
