Council

The Kananaskis Improvement District Council was established in 1996 to provide direct public representation in the governance of the Kananaskis Improvement District. Council is accountable to residents and ratepayers as well as to the Minister of Alberta Tourism, Parks and Recreation.

Council is responsible for helping the Minister make sure the Improvement District provides the services the constituents need and want. It provides input into policy making relating to programs and services in the Improvement District and monitors these programs and services to ensure that administration delivers them in the best way possible.

The Kananaskis Improvement District Council is comprised of six individuals representing the Lower Kananaskis Lake Cabin Subdivision Assocation, non-commercial residents or ratepayers, large businesses (those of $750,000 or more in the most recent Assessment), small businesses (those of less than $750,000 in the most recent Assessment), and two Alberta residents-at-large.
